Holy Cats by Andy Warhol's Mother and 25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy were both privately pressed and originally published in 1954 in a limited quantity of 190 copies each when Andy Warhol and his mother Julia Warhola were sharing a small apartment together prior to Warhol's fame. It was inspired by their menagerie of Siamese cats, each curiously called Sam, save for one called Hester. Warhol illustrated 25 Cats and Warhola did the calligraphy; Warhol's friend Charles Lisanby supplied the text. Holy Cats, imagining one of their shared cats ascending to cat-heaven, was written and illustrated entirely by Julia Warhola.
The also-rare 1987 facsimile edition revived these works in a single slipcase, designed by Yolanda Cuomo.
Condition: Very good, light wear to box
